Investment Philosophy

Rein Capital has, since approximately 1995, followed a primary philosophy of Proactivity. From its founding in 1976 through today, Rein Capital has participated in traditional syndications with other prominent venture capital firms. The Proactivity philosophy, while tested earlier, became the dominant focus in 1995. Proactivity, to us, is the process in which insight and analysis of market needs, developed in cooperation with a set of strategic partner companies, leads to the instigation and initiation of innovation directed towards key issues and problems facing the industry or its end customers. Prior investments in this model have yielded significant advances in imaging, network and operation support software, routing and switching equipment, graphics, wireless applications and health care information technologies.

Rein Capital places a premium value on proven technology development teams that posses the ability and aptitude for clear and direct architecture and development of innovative technology, yet have the flexibility to adjust and tune their vision to the needs of strategic partners. Advanced business plans are evaluated and submissions are accepted for review, however, the ultimate decision to engage with entrepreneurs is driven by far more emphasis on team capabilities and experience.

Rein Capital’s engagement towards creating and fostering innovation in this model comprises an aggressive strategy and business development program driven by the partners of the firm in conjunction with the entrepreneurs in whom we choose to invest. This deep engagement and participation is of great value to many entrepreneurs and testimonials to that effect are plentiful.

This primary model for investment by Rein Capital is somewhat non-traditional for the venture capital industry but is, we believe, the wave of the future. Interested engineering and development teams may, in confidence, contact the partners with a brief description of team competencies and any ideas for product or service creation. Details of submission process may be found on the "Contact us" page.
